I have graduated and am now working at NYU. Please visit my updated (and maintained) homepage at the Center for Comology and Particle Physics.
I am a PhD student at the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Tel-Aviv University, under the supervision of Prof. Dan Maoz. I am currently at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, where I am co-advised by Prof. Michael Shara. I am interested in constraining the nature of the stellar system that leads to a thermonuclear, or Type Ia, supernova. I do this mainly by measuring the rates of supernovae I discover in both imaging-based surveys (such as the Subaru Deep Field and CLASH) and in galaxy spectra from large-scale spectroscopic galaxy surveys (such as the Sloan Digital Sky Survey). In 2012, my thesis was one of 12 animated by Jorge Cham of PhD Comics: Besides research, I take part in public outreach by organizing and participating in the activities of the Tel-Aviv University AstroClub and by mentoring high-school students in the Science Research Mentoring Program at the American Museum of Natural History. In my free time, I write fiction, in Hebrew and English, and read as much as I can. I am also interested in the history, politics, and culture of ancient Rome, political science, and experiencing the world by living somewhere else every once in a while.
