Proxy definition in Netscape

Press:

Edit
Preferences

Press on the TRIANGLE before "Advanced".
Then press Proxies, in the upcoming submenu

Automatic configuration: URL: http://www.tau.ac.il/tau.pac

Press: Reload
OK

Note: If you still get following error message:

A network error occured
unable to connect to server ( TCP Error: No route to host )
The server may be down or unreachable

Then instead of the Automatic proxy configuration try the Manual Configuration:

Manual configuration -> View

HTTP Proxy: proxym.tau.ac.il     Port:8080

Proxy definition in Mozilla

Press:

Edit
Preferences

Press on the SQUARE containing a "+" before "Advanced".
Afterwards press Proxies in the upcoming submenu.

Automatic proxy configuration: URL http://www.tau.ac.il/tau.pac

Important: In netscape the 'http://' before the www.tau.ac.il/tau.pac was not essential.
In mozilla it is !!

Press:

Reload
OK

Mail configuration in Netscape

Say your username is 'abcd', and your mailserver is wise.tau.ac.il

Edit
Preferences
Press on the TRIANGLE before "Mail & Newsgroup"

• Identity
  Your name: abcd
  Email address: abcd@wise.tau.ac.il
• Mail Servers
  • Incoming Mail Server: Click on pop and press
    Delete
    Add
    In the upcoming window, choose:
    Server Name: wise.tau.ac.il
    Server Type: Click on POP and you will get a submenu with 3 options. Choose: Movemail
    User Name: abcd
    OK
  • Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: wise.tau.ac.il
    Outgoing mail server user name: abcd
    Check for mail every ( choose a number )
  
  OK

Mail configuration in Mozilla

In order to use the Movemail option in mozilla, first configure movemail in Netscape ( see previous section ), and then when you enter mozilla the first time, choose
Convert Profile.
The system will now prepare the mail configuration based on the netscape definitions.

Important: In netscape, definitions of 'Movemail User Name' and 'Outgoing mail server username' are not essential, but in mozilla they are !!

Blocking pop-ups in Mozilla

Press:

Edit
Preferences

Press on the SQUARE containing a "+" before "Advanced"
Afterwards press Scripts & Plugins in the upcoming submenu.
