Prof. Pekka Sinervo University of Toronto Date: Jan. 25, 2009 Title: The Search for Truth: What We Know About the Top Quark Abstract: I will review our current understanding of the top quark, the heaviest known form of matter, focusing on what we have learned from studying the very highest energy matter-antimatter collisions observed in the laboratory. I will summarize some of the most recent results of the Collider Detector at Fermilab that cast interesting perspectives on our knowledge of the Higgs boson, the particle that is responsible for generating mass in the Standard Model.
