The Wise Observatory "Piggy-back" Asteroids Project

During the course of the Wise Observatory Optical Transient Search many asteroids have been discovered. These are measured and reported to the IAU by Ilan Manulis, Head of the Small Solar System Objects Section at the Israeli Astronomical Association.
This program probes the distribution of faint asteroids (R mag 18-21) that are not covered by the large automated programs such as LINEAR, NEAT and LONEOS. More than 50 asteroids have been measured and reported so far, and four of the objects have been given designations by the IAU's MPC, one of which has been assigned a principal designation. An additional target of this project is the discovery of new Near Earth Objects (NEOs).
