Project Course for 3rd Year Physics Students--Semester B 2011
The goals of this course are:
- An introduction to research through independant study of the
scientific literature
- The writing of a short scientific summary of a current research
field
- A short lecture by the student on the research topic
Course Requirements and Structure
Decide what field interests you, find the proper instructor
(from the list below), and choose a topic from the list the
instructor suggests. (Or think of a new topic; the instructor has to
approve it).
Read papers on the topic and meet with the instructor weekly to
discuss your progress.
Write a short paper, < 5 pages, in English or Hebrew, on the
background, importance and current
status of your topic
Give a lecture of ~20 minutes to the students about the material
you studied.
Schedule
- Select
Instructor and Topic by March 10
- Give draft
of paper to instructor for feedback by May 12
- Give
lecture and turn in finshed paper June 2. If needed,
lectures will also be held on June 9.
